God is ALIVE. God is on the move. God is the same God now as he was thousands of years ago in the Old Testament. He has not changed. Believers in this day and age fail to remember that. He is still Mighty. He is still Just. He is still all-powerful. Why do we, as American Christians, get so complacent in our faith? Is it because we have everything we have ever wanted or needed? We feel no need to have faith because we can do it “all on our own”. We are always so focused on success and achieving a powerful status, or making friends, or fitting in, that we fail to recognize the fact that the Church is ASLEEP. We live day to day in a fog, not walking in our purpose, and not following the Holy Spirit. We are too busy to listen to what God is trying to tell us. We are busy searching for answers in the media. We are scared to reach people, we are scared to speak out in TRUTH. Why?
Sin has become legalized in our country. Sin has become glorified. The Church (as a whole) has become desensitized to all things that are shameful. The Church has laid down and let sin become rampant in our society. The Church has been silent in the midst of evil destroying hearts and souls. God does not bless sin. He loves sinners. He died for sinners. But he cannot bless those who do not repent and turn from the ways of the world. People often blame God for their misfortune, pain, discomfort, sickness, and hurt. How can people expect God to fulfill their lives if they only want a one-way relationship? People want, want, want, but don’t want to give God more than an hour on Sunday mornings. God is not in the business of doing favors. God is in the business of relationships.
Many people think that their call is to witness to sinners and lead them to become believers. But, I believe we have a call RIGHT NOW to get BELIEVERS to WAKE UP! The book of Revelation talks very plainly about believers and churches who have fallen asleep.
“I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive—but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief.” Revelation 3:1-3
Many people go to church on Sundays and believe they are alive. They believe in a God that forgives and loves no matter what. Is this true? Yes. Very true. But God calls us to repent. Turn to Him again. If we do not wake up, Christ will come as a thief and all those who believe they are safe, will be left behind.
I experienced the Holy Spirit yesterday with a group of believers. There were 6 of us. Each one of us has experienced the same calling- an urgency to lead believers to repentance. The Lord told me to gather them together and pray with these believers in order to come into unity. We gathered together, joined hands, and the Holy Spirit was undoubtedly among us. I have not felt His presence that strongly in a really long time. An army is rising up. A revival is needed for believers in this country. Stop being ashamed. Stop ignoring the call. Stop being lukewarm in your faith. The bible blatantly says that we cannot live in the world and serve God at the same time.
My heart hurts for those who think they are walking in faith, but are really walking in darkness. There is no passion for the Cross anymore. There is no real love for the Savior. There is no real repentance. There is no surrender. Hearts are dull and aching. Please, dig deep down into your heart and evaluate your priorities. Evaluate what is important to you. Eternity is right around the corner and once you breathe your last, there will be no chance for repentance.
Everything we choose in this lifetime will result in where we spend eternity. Don’t just lie down and wait until it’s too late. Rise up. Let the light shine through you. Don’t be ashamed to be passionate about God. Don’t be scared to shine bright in a room full of darkness. Be alert. Be on guard! Pray. Get on your knees and genuinely seek Him.
There is one more warning I must give you. If you choose to stand as a light amongst darkness, you must be prepared for persecution. You must be prepared for being unpopular, disliked, and scrutinized. Remember, that’s okay! Stand firm. Stay strong. Remember who you’re fighting for. You are fighting for the souls and eternity of believers and unbelievers. You are doing the work that God has called all of us to do. Your suffering will never go unnoticed. Please, join with believers who are prepared to fight, in LOVE. Be a warrior for Christ. Join with us in unity to awaken those who have fallen asleep.
“And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who ENDURES UNTIL THE END WILL BE SAVED.” Matthew 10:22
